Knappstein Riesling 2001
My first entry into wine blogging wednesday (wbw- check it out at an obsession with food), i took advantage of my wine-store-working flatmate to taste this Knappstein Riesling of 2001 from Australia.
nose gooseberry, citrus, clean and fresh, creamy.
palate grapefruit, lime, apple, spice, some tanins. thin and not very complex. short finish. not well balanced: overly acidic.
color lemony golden, thin, light olive.
alcohol content 12.5% (i think)
country and vintage australia, 2001
eat with rich, fatty cheeses (blue? brie?)-- not much else
price oddbins (U.K.) £6.99
other thoughts we weren't very impressed with this wine. it was relatively simple and thin, and overly acidic. we had difficuly thinking of food to pair with it, as its balance (rather, lack there of) didn't seem conducive to much.
